Big Announcements from BA21
This message contains a few announcements from BA21.
BA21 Squared
Paul Giacherio joined forces with Cameron Beers (the sole proprietor of BA21) earlier this year with the aim of taking over the world.
Paul is an inspired web designer who's portfolio as well as the new BA21 website design say it all. Paul contributes to the design community by releasing Tumblr themes as well as upcoming Sweetcron themes.
As an aside, Paul emailed me last spring as a fellow Tumblr user, after Tumblr released a feature allowing one to specify their tumblr location. Both living in Charlottesville, we had lunch to talk shop. Paul's web design as well as his vision for business / marketing strategy on the web was a perfect match for BA21, which has been working in web development in the Charlottesville area since 2004.
Major Brainstorms
We're barely able to keep up with the latest in web design and development -- let along this emerging field of social media. It's actually more social marketing than development, and the technology rather than being more complicated, is available to just about anyone with the knowledge of how to use it.
BA21.us includes some of the features we're currently exploring, and together with our partners, have added to value our latest business proposals.
BA21.us Redesign
As part of our new partnership, Paul and I have been busy rethinking BA21.us. We've launched a new business site, including an innovative new blog. This isn't your average Wordpress blog. The BA21 Blog consists of multiple streams of content, coming from places all over the web.
- Flickr: a flickr group for sharing photos
- Delicious: links and resources
- Tumblr: a tumblr group for sharing rich content including photos, video, text, chats, quotes, etc.
- Twitter: status posts from twitter
The really useful function of using all these services for what their good for, instead of trying to recreate a site to store them all, is that Paul and I can keep doing what we've been doing. We both have accounts in these services, and use them regularly. Now, we're simply republishing this activity in one place.
It's like lifestreaming for a small business -- and we think it's awesome. Oh, and we're using SweetCron to make this happen. Built with PHP CodeIgniter, it's a great small MVC app, with a plugin architecture and API for aggregating feeds of all types.
New Work, Joint Portfolio
Thanks to all our clients for allowing BA21 to grow during 2008. We've launched a number of new sites this summer, and have collected all our work in a new joint portfolio. The best part is what's to come! Check out the new BA21 portfolio to see more. (The portfolio is actually a flickr group which Paul and I can both contribute to.)
Office Upgrades
To account for a second desk, and a new blackboard, the BA21 office received a redesign this fall. If you around the Downtown Mall, stop by to check it out. Lots of creative activity this fall, and looking forward to a busy winter.

Charlottesville Talks
In an effort to give back to the Charlottesville community as well as to help educate those interested in professional web design, BA21 is planning a series of talks. Topics and invitations will be released through our site, as well as posted to the Neon Guild. Current clients are encouraged to come learn about new ways to use the web to help their business or organization.
